On Tuesday, Nov. 20, People Serving People (PSP) will hold its annual Thanksgiving meal giveaway in its headquarters, 614 3rd St. S. Through a partnership with Cub Foods, PSP will distribute 2,000 free turkey meals to formerly homeless families.
The program serves clients of PSP, Simpson Housing Services, Project for Pride in Living and St. Stephen’s Human Services. To be eligible for a meal, a family must contact PSP in advance to secure a voucher.
While PSP has secured the meals through donations from Cub Foods, PSP’s Lauren Rimestad said there are still ways for members of the public to help.
“We need help in handing out bags of turkey and bags of groceries,” said Rimestad. “And we need financial support more than ever.”
Rimestad said PSP is currently looking for 10 to 20 volunteers to help distribute food. Anyone who is interested can contact her direction at 227-0219. Donations to PSP can be made through its website, peopleservingpeople.org.
