NORTH LOOP — Eric and Andrew Dayton, owners of the hot spots The Bachelor Farmer and Marvel Bar — have purchased a building next to their property — a three-story building known as the Historic Hennepin Hotel.

There are no specific plans for the building at this point, according to a news release on the purchase. The 8,400-square-foot property at 204 N. 1st St. was built in 1888. Prisma International, the former owner, will remain a tenant for the rest of the year. Renovation work is expected to start in 2013.

“We’re thrilled to be deepening our commitment to the North Loop neighborhood with this acquisition,” said Andrew Dayton. “It’s a terrific complement to our current property and presents us with a number of exciting business opportunities.”

The Daytons bought the building now home to The Bachelor Farmer, Marvel Bar and men’s clothing store Askov Finlayson in 2008. The Preservation Alliance of Minnesota is honoring them with a 2012 Minnesota Preservation Award next month for restoration work on the former warehouse at North 1st Street & 2nd Avenue North.

It’s the building directly adjacent – between BF and 212 Lofts. Very cool news!
