It’s hard to believe The Bachelor Farmer has only been around for a year. After all, the restaurant has already experienced career-defining moments like a James Beard award nomination and the chance to host a lunch for President Obama. But it has indeed only been a year since Eric and Andrew Dayton launched The Bachelor Farmer and Marvel Bar, and they are celebrating the event with a free party for the entire community.
On Saturday, Aug. 4, The Bachelor Farmer will host a block party with live music, Nordic food and beverages. The party will shut down 2nd Avenue N. between Azine Way and 1st St. N. from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. The party will be called Kräftskiva after a Swedish tradition of holding a “crayfish party” in the month of August.
“Our first year exceeded our expectations in every way, and this event is a chance for us to celebrate and thank our customers and neighbors for their incredible support,” said Eric Dayton, co-owner of The Bachelor Farmer and Marvel Bar in an email. “We hope Kräftskiva becomes an annual summer tradition in Minneapolis as it is in the Nordic region.”
The party will feature selections from the restaurant’s menu as well as traditional Kräftskiva dishes like chilled crayfish with dill. Musical performers include DJ Jonathan Ackerman and the band Halloween, Alaska. Two other bands, Switzerland and City on the Make, include members of The Bachelor Farmer and Marvel Bar staff.
