ST. ANTHONY WEST — The NE Farmers Market is hosting the Taste of Northeast Festival on Saturday.
Drawing many of its offerings from the surrounding produce at the NE Farmers Market, The Taste of Northeast Festival will celebrate its second year at University and 7th avenues.
From 9 am to 1 pm, several food trucks and at least five restaurants including the Modern Café, Chowgirls Killer Catering, Sen Yai Sen Lek, Red Stag Supperclub, and the Bridgewood Café & Catering, will be joined by 30 local produce vendors as well as artisans. A larger festival will be held Sept 8.
“All these restaurants use local stuff, shop at our market. Especially in Northeast, we see the restaurateurs closing the loop on local foods. We have just so much local food action here with people that support the market,” said Martin Brown, outreach coordinator for the market.
Portions will be smaller than normally served at the restaurants and prices kept lower.
“First of all it’s a chance to try food from a lot of restaurants for not a whole lot of money,” he said.
