One on One Bicycle Studio, the coffee shop and bike shop at 117 Washington Ave. N. will expand to take over the adjacent Foxtone Music space, said owner Gene Oberpriller. The expanded space will allow the bike shop to expand its selection of commuter clothing and other soft goods.
Timing on the expansion is still somewhat up in the air. “Sometime for sure the next sixty days,” said Oberpriller. Current tenant Foxtone is moving to a new home at 300 1st Ave., which it will share with The Institute for Production & Recording. Once Foxtone completes its move, One on One will move into the space.
Oberpriller said he plans to use the space as a showroom for commuter clothing and bicycles by local company Handsome Cycles. He originally planned to use the space on a temporary basis to showcase Handsome’s bikes and a new commuter clothing line by Levi’s. However, the building’s owners asked if the expansion could be permanent, and several other clothing companies expressed interest in displaying their wares in the space.
The new space won’t be ready to go in time for the launch of the new Levi’s product, but One on One is already expanding its selection of commuter clothing. On Thursday from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., One on One will host a launch party for the new Levi’s line. The party will support the Bikes to Rwanda organization and the Minneapolis Bicycle Coalition.
