A Northeast restaurant with a devoted following has it will temporarily close down as it prepares to move to a new location. The Mill City Café will shutter its location at 2205 California St. NE on May 27 and reopen shortly in a new, larger location.
“We’ve been outgrowing our space for a little bit of time now,” said Mill City Café owner Mandy Zechmeister. “We’re looking at a few different possibilities, all in the Northeast area.”
Zechmeister said timing for the re-opening is undetermined at this point. Until the launch of the new location, customers will be able to buy Mill City Café’s veggie burgers at The Anchor Fish & Chips. Zechmeister is exploring the option of selling the burgers at additional retail locations as well.
The Mill City Café will host an open house closing event on Wednesday, May 30 from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. The event will feature bands, appetizers and plenty of drinks. There will be a suggested donation at the door.
Zechmeister said she hopes the restaurant’s loyal customers can make it to the event so she can see them again before the restaurant reopens in its new space.
“We have such great customers,” she said.
